Hi this is Lindsay :)
1. This quarter I worked hard to better my editing skills. I feel as though my biggest strength in this class is my work ethic. I am always working hard to be the best I can be at whatever job, story, or project I am working on. I was able to make a disc of the figure skating story for the girls involved as well as film for the dialogues and do a story on the Miss You Can Do It pageant. I also anchored, worked behind the camera, floor directed, and did other various jobs.
2. I feel as though I have improved in editing stories. I started off with stories that didn't really flow but just captured the main ideas. When filming the Miss You Can Do It story, I had 4 interviews with Danika at different times including a week before the pageant, a half hour before the pageant, during the pageant, and after she won. I believe this versatility aided my story in showing much more depth of not only the pageant itself, but Danika, the eastview student being highlighted in this story.
3. I still think I need improvement in my anchoring skills. I always get nervous when I anchor and I feel that if I can practice it more, it will come more naturally!
4. I think that we should continue to strive to have our shows planned out as early as possible because it really does make a difference in the quality of the show. I feel as though the music video credits were really nice because they had it planned out and filmed before the week of the show! If we can continue to do this for all stories and credits, our shows will continue to improve.
5. Yes. I not only made a dvd of my story for the figure skating girls on Team Braemar, but also filmed the NHS Dialogues in its entirety. I'm not sure of the exact dates but I do know that the dvds were made early in the quarter.
6. As we go into our last quarter in Te Flash, I just want to thank everyone for stepping up to the plate and trying their hardest to better our show. I recently watched some of our old 4cast shows and it hasn't only been our appearances that have changed over the course of the years; every single person has improved so much as editors, directors, anchors, and camera-men. Nice work :)
1. I did my main story towards the beginning of the quarter which was about the Oscars, and then I also helped Tyler out with his story on the Polar Bear Plunge. As well I have anchoreds just this last week with Hannah.
2. I think my overall knowledge of the studio and how to make the sow better has improved. By doing show after show I know more about what can go wrong and how to remedy it quickly without causing major mistakes to come across to our audience. As well I felle even more proficient with Premiere and therefore feel that my stories are therefore improving.
3. I think I can still try and work better with everyone else, to make the show better. As well I would like to become a better anchor, because although I feel comfortable with anchoring, I don't think I am as strong at it as others.
4. Like everyone sure will say is that we should start earlier, but I think it would be especially good if we started credits the weeknd before. For instance when we did the Backstreet Boys credits done early they were one of our best, and that makes us even more proud of our hard work that we out into credits. As well trying to help everyone be proficient in all aspects of the Flash show, to prevent people from only being focused on one aspect or another.
5. Yes, I have been filming shows at a local theatre group (YPC) with my dad and helping him edit them and put them on DVD for there archives.
6. Just keep up the good work as we finish off our Senior year!
Sup? it's paige here
1.) This quarter I did 3 stories within 4 weeks. I did:
-the boy's swimming story
-The new facilities story
-the girls basketball stoy.
For credits I got footage/b-roll for the tetris credits, I also helped barry with the physics video credits.
My strengths as a student in this class this quarter was definitely volunteering and helping others get stuff done. Definitely time management as well and getting things done at good paces.
2.) In individual skills, I have improved in my story quality. I think that I do a better job now organizing my stories. Also my skills as a videographer and looking for those dynamic but simple shots.
3.)I still need improvement and would like to learn more photoshop skills and special effects. Such as graphics that wipf makes etc.
4.) A NEW OPEN again. and more volunteers
5.)My community service for this quarter was the boys swimming segment of the yearbook video.
6.)none :)
HOWDY YA"LL!!!
1. -Filmed Tetris Credits
- Helped Edit the Physics music video credits
- Story coming up
- I believe that my strengths in this class helping people out and giving "fresh ideas" to the class.
2. I have seen improvemnt on my skills in my ability to find different angles for footage and my ability to write segways for stories. I have also improved in my photoshop skills for making still frame graphics.
3. I could use improvement in the areas of making sure the tapes actually work and work on special effects as in using after effects
4. A NEW OPEN!!!! A GOOD OPEN!!!!
5. I made a dvd/music video for the Dance Tech class.
6. GUYS SHOW > GIRLS SHOW!!!!!
<3 Sam
Hey this is Colleen,
1. This quarter I have helped film the summer activities credits and the Roger credits. I made the open for our Valentine’s Day show. I have a story this week on prom asking and for the first and last time this year I anchored a show. I also help every day with the playing of the 4Cast. One of my strengths as a student in this class is what I think is my want for us as a class to be this best we can be. I love bragging about the Flash to my friends by saying I have this class where we all sit on the floor and watch YouTube videos every few days as a way of improving our skills. Another strength of mine is helping people when I know how to. I also try to get things done early like crawl and when I don’t have a job try to fix the little things that can get over looked and make other people’s jobs easier.
2. The biggest improvement I have seen in my own skills is definitely my willingness to do more things; this is mostly shown through me anchoring. Even though I did have to be a bit pushed by Hannah to do it (which I did ask for) and it did scare me to death, I did it and in theory never have to do it again. I also think that I am starting to understand the more technical things that go on in the studio. It is nice to be able to talk to Wipf and actually understand about half of the things he is talking about.
3. With our last quarter of the flash coming up I would love to have a story I am truly proud of that is on a topic I am truly interested in and incorporates everything I have learned over the past 3 years. I have never once been happy with any story I have done. I know my strength is not in story making or editing, but it would be nice to have that one amazing story for me to remember as the final “ta-da” I guess of the Flash for me.
4. Something that I think we could do to improve the Flash is have a credits that compares to the feedback we got from Single Ladies. I repeatedly hear from my friends that those were our best credits and they would love to see more like them. I think a Single Ladies follow-up is very doable for us because now after 3 quarters of credits we have learned what works and what doesn’t. We had Backstreet Boys and from there we can only get better.
5. For my community service I have done concessions for the girls’ basketball game, I taped the boys’ basketball game, and I helped Ms. Fruin’s student teacher make his teaching video. I don’t know if this counts but I also helped my friends with the editing of their Anatomy video.
6. Last little thing, I am NEVER saying what’s crack-a-lackin’ Eastview again.
Hey all its Karlee!!!
1.-story on girls hockey
-helped with other peoples stories
-Video yearbook for hockey
-my strengths is that i am able to many different things in the class and help people with many things
2.I have seen improvements in my editing skills, i am now capable to transfer things and be able to burn them on to a disk as well as do many other things with my editing.
3. I still need to improve on using better dynamic shots in my work and making sure to give myself enough time to have a quality story. Forth quarter I want to learn how to better interview people to get more out of what I am doing.
4. I think we need to start planning ahead earlier that way we can get quality stories done and not stress. As well as get credits done early because like with the music video we had it done on monday and it was a lot less stressful of a week.
5. My community service was going to be girls hockey for the video yearbook but because they computer crashed I have yet to do it.
6. Love you all and keep working hard to finish these last 8 shows!!!
Hey guys this is Mark!
1. This quarter I feel like I did a very good job of stepping up to the plate when the group needed me. I did a lot of anchoring when some of the guys in the group didn't want to. I also did a lot of work with the jobs such as vtr, cameras, and audio. I did a story on the boys golf team that aired this thursday. It really was a blast to film and edit and I'm glad I did that story.
2. I've really seen a big improvement in my ability to edit. I used to really struggle with it and had trouble remembering how to do everything. With a little bit of practice I have really made a giant improvement in that category.
3. I think that one thing I should try and improve on is doing more jobs within the studio. I should try different jobs such as director or globecaster because I feel it would be a good thing to know how to do. In fourth quarter I would really like to just brush up on all the skills that I have learned while taking this class so that I can use these skills in the future.
4. I feel that there are a few things that we can do to really make our show that much better. I think one thing that we could do is try to make some more opens. I know that is easier said than done but I feel that it would give our show a lot of flavor. I also think that if we keep volunteering and getting our stories planned out early we will not be nearly as stressed out as the last two quarters.
5. I did do my community service when I did the commentary with Ryan for the boys basketball game versus Rosemount. It was an awesome experience and I now have a whole new appreciation for the commentators I hear on television.
6. I think that the best thing we can do is just have some fun this final quarter that we have together. It has been really awesome to be with such a wonderful group of people and I know this is an experience I will never forget. So thanks to all you flashers! :)
Hey! Hannah here.
1)This quarter I headed up the NHS blooddrive story and also helped with other stories throughout the quarter (b-roll/interviews and such), as well as working at each of the different jobs for the shows. In this class my primary strength is being a leader in discussions, attempting to get as much accomplished and planned out as possible. I also think I bring a positive spirit to the group each day which sometimes helps =)
2)This quarter/throughout the year I have seen improvement on my layout of stories (a-roll) as well as blending a-roll and b-roll together. I also improved on my camera operation. I continue to be more comfortable and acquainted with the camera.
3) I would like to keep learning more and more about editing and different tricks you can do on premier and I would also like to do a better job and getting interesting and captivating b-roll for my stories which will hopefully improve them as a whole.
4) I think we can still work on spreading out the workload in the class although even toward the end of this quarter I felt like everyone was really pulling together to get all that we needed to do accomplished. I also think we need to go back to planning shows as far ahead as possible because lately it seems like it hasn't been as high of a priority as it used to.
5) My community service is the girls basketball story for the video yearbook although I need to redo it due to the tragic crashing of edit 6.
6) I love our little Flash family =)
Kait!
1. This quarter I did a story on the boys varsity baseball team and the voices of hope benefit. I helped Hannah film her blood drive story and was in a couple of credits.
2. I think I improved a lot with the different jobs. I finally feel like I can sit down at a place and not feel like I need to ask for help. I also think I did a better job with stories. Ive learned how to get better interviews that can drive the story rather than me talking the whole time.
3. I think I can improve with the quickness that I do things. Im pretty slow at making graphics and all of that kind of stuff. I also think my directing wasnt quite as good as it used to be.
4. I think there are a lot of neat things coming up next quarter. If we stay on task and do what we commit to these shows and videos that we will be working on will be really good.
5. For community service I drove the broken camera to Edina to get fixed.
6. Ill miss you guys next quarter! Let me know if you need any help, especially with the girls show!
YOYOYO Pizza dough!
1. This quarter I took on a couple tasks to help the class out. I started off the quarter by doing a story on the dodgeball tournament with Josh Tollefson as the main interviewee. I also tried to do the Valentines day credits and worked hard one morning interrupting couples, however I was sick and could not edit them the next day. I also helped with the summer activities credits that were headed up by koen. Wow Koen stepped it up this quarter. Way to go. Next up I helped with human tetris, future of newspapers and the polar bear plunge stories with the editing. Last week I also helped with history of apple valley and the credits for "I Want it That Way".
2. Once again my improvement in individual skills has been in interviewing and reporting. Meeting with three strangers for the Apple Valley story really made me step it up! It also helped me realize how to get golden nuggets and the sound bytes I needed.
3. I think I still need improvement in my technical skills. Reporting is my strength and I enjoy writing but I need to get myself more comfortable with the technology and experience that Adobe and camera shots/sound offer.
4. I think our open should include us/students outside of the tv studio. We should constantly be trying to include more people and some of our friends from around the school. Including students from different classes/grades would also help create more interest in the show.
5. I've done a couple things for community service. I worked concessions with our awesome crew at the girls basketball game early this quarter. Kait and I also drove the broken camera to Edina one day to get the quote for it and I also helped with the production of the boys basketball game versus Rosemount!
6. (continued from above) So now I've got my dough and I'm puttin in the oven. Don't worry Flash we're still lovin.
This is Ryan by the way!
Hey it's Emma.
1. A quick listing of what I have done this quarter:
-Minnesota Wild stories (longer version for the contest and shorter for our show)
-Anchored with Sam on Celebrity Day
-Helped with the Summer Activities credits
-Helped film and edited the Roger credits
-Did a story on the future of newspapers
-Did the "Poker Face" credits
-Anchored with Mark
I think my main strengths lie in reporting and anchoring; I am very confident in both and feel like I have come very far.
2. This quarter I have noticed an improvement in making additions to my stories. I can add transitions and I learned how to upload videos from YouTube and put them into Premiere. I feel that overall I can edit stories much quicker and much more efficiently.
3. I want to learn AfterEffects! After watching Wipf's Pokemon credits today, I really want to get a basic understanding of how that program works and use it to my advantage.
4. NEW OPEN! I really think that new opens instantly draw the audience in and make them curious as to what that show will be like. I also think it they really get their attention. I think it would be great if we could have a new set, and I would be willing to help, but I'm not sure if that will work out...I also think that these last few weeks everyone has really been stepping up, and I hope that can continue!! :)
5. Yes. I helped the Cub Scouts in the studio when they came, I worked at the concession stand for the basketball game, and I worked the camera for the basketball game against Rosemount.
6. I love our Flash family, but hey guys- if I were you, I would NOT underestimate the girls and the Girls' show... ;)
1. This quarter I completed 3 stories- the JDRF Walk Story, The Jazz Band Story, and Class Dance Competition story. I anchored with Mark, anchored the StormWatch, finished my Sam Benda story for the StormWatch & for STN. I think I'm good at writing scripts, completing stories on time and making the story flow. :]
2. I think this quarter I've improved my 'skillz' when it comes to stepping up to volunteer when other people are unavailable. I have a very busy schedule but I always somehow end up completing more than one story per quarter- that's not a jab at anyone. ;]
3. I think I still need improvement in working the GlobeCaster. But I hate it. During third quarter I'd like to learn how to do more work on AfterEffects- Wipf- you interested in providing lessons? I also want to do credits. :]
4. The Flash would be better if we worked ahead of schedule- we know that but we never follow through. Let's get the BIG BOARD filled out earlier this quarter, mmk? :]
5. I did my community service. I did a few things actually. I was there for the Boy Scout troop visit to the studio and I worked at the Concession thing.. I don't really understand how that counts for this class but that's beside the point.
6. Nope. Michael smells. ps. what's on your neck? ;]
Hey its Kelsey North
1. I did a story on the boys basketball team, I anchored, I was in two of the credits, I helped Kait with her baseball story, and other people with random stuff, I've done teleprompter like 485719487 times, and other random jobs and the stuff I did at the beginning of the quarter that I said in the midterm thing. My strength in this class is probably just helping people with things and being willing to do whatever :)
2. I think I've gotten way better at being more confident in getting my interviews because I used to be scared to ask random people. Oh and I've improved on my acting skills in credits of course!
3. I still need improvement on camera stuff because I always forget how to do things like white balance. During fourth quarter I want to remember what all the buttons and flips and stuff on the camera mean.
4. We need a new open desperately and also spend more time on credits
5. For my community service I worked the concessions at a basketball game woohoo
6. Go Flash
this is tom bauer fa sho
1. LDT Story for state, assisted barry k north and paige on IM Basketball, Boys Basketball and Boys Swimming stories respectively. also helping the 4cast with open stuff and doing that STN thing (though emma did most of the work and made it better). also me and kelsey r anchored the storm watch this past week on both days since the first one didnt work out so well :). i'm good at being organized and getting stuff done on time as well as helping people stay up to date and working with them to make stories better
2. i've improved at using time more effectively by being more focused when working on something so it's quicker to get in and out with a better product
3. i need to improve at smiling more when i anchor and not getting stressed out and freaking out at the people doing their jobs whilst i am anchoring :)
4. earlier credits planning and trying to get people not in the flash on the flash would be good though that started to get better last quarter with things like myz and kevin being in the credits and such
5. yes indeed i did, i did the LDT managers video toward the beginning of the quarter, it was basically awesome
6. people need to bring treats when their assigned to and enjoy the last quarter of high school more :)
also the guys show is going to own.
obviously.
i mean cmon, we have mike jones.
The FLASH is #1
-Tom Bauer
hey its barry
1. i have done a story on im baseketball as well as helped out editing and doing stories. I also did the physics music video credits and helped on tetris.
2.I feel i know how to use all the equipment in the studio and don't really go away from doing any jobs. I need to remember how to white balance knowing that now most of the stories will be outside.
3. I need to work on getting more creativity in my shots for my stories.
4. we need to continue on planning our weeks ahead so that everyone gets a jump start on our stories so we can have 3 a week!! Also we should try and get credits done before wednesday.
5. Yes i did it early with the concession stands and boy scouts in studio.
6. Keep doing jobs and stories we all want to be lazy but if we all do our share this quarter won't be hard at all.
