Hello

1. Mark and I had an adventure out on the town at the Holidazzle Parade. It was based on Concert Choir singing in the parade. I also helped with multiple credits including the pancake eating contest. My strengths as a student are that I try and provide a happier atmosphere and a creative mind to the mix.

2. I feel that my skills in creating a specific show rather than a regular show have improved greatly.

3. I still need improvment at editing and I wish do accomplish a lot editing more this simester.

4. We need more support with participation, but before you start hatin' I know from experience that it is hard to find the time to accomplish all these stories. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that we need teamwork and more "Brerak Downs."

5. I'll admit that I have not done my community service for this quarter but I hope to come in this Friday and help clean and organize the studio.

6. GO TEAM!

Hey this is Lindsay

1. This quarter I did two stories. One was for Tyler with Colleen and it was on Holiday Giving and the other was for the two figure skaters from Eastview on the Braemar Figure Skating Team who are going to Swtitzerland for the World Competition. I anchored this quarter and filmed the NHS dialogues. I also helped to film various people's opens for their stories and also b-roll! My strengths are that I am very helpful and am a hard worker. When someone else in the class needed someone to help film or get an interview i did my best to help them out. When i sign up for a story I work really hard to make it the best it can be.

2. I have seen a lot of improvement on my b-roll. Even though I had a broken tripod for my figure skating story, my b-roll was a lot more interesting and told more of a story than the b-roll i have filmed for other stories. :)

3. I want to improve in my anchoring. My mom wathed the show online and said that i was wiggling my legs a lot haha I guess it's probably a nervous habit soooo....I'm going to be more self conscious about that and work on being more natural when i'm anchoring. I want to learn how to write a script that flows better and seems natural.

4. I think we can improve by starting our stories sooner than the week of. Whether it be filming, interviews, or just simply planning out the storyline on paper, i think this will help for us to have more time to develop our stories and make them more interesting. Plus, it will be helpful if anything goes wrong to have extra days to fix it.

5. YES! haha I filmed the NHS Dialogues. It was like the first week of the quarter or close to it, and it was really long! haha

6. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy being in this class because all of the students are really nice and helpful and easy to work with. They all make this class really fun. Thanks :)

This quarter i did many different things. I did a story on top things to do in the holiday season and then a story on battle of the bands. I also shot credits multiple times including the snow ones that were shot at 630 am. my strenghts include helping out with many stories and shooting interviews for people when they cant.
I have gotten a lot better at using camera shots in my stories and also at using the wireless mics even though sometimes they don't work.
I need to learn more in studio jobs like the globecaster
I think that this quarter was better than last but people need to realize that everyones busy with things so choose when you do a story based on when you have time and don't procrastinate until the last week to do a story.

Hey it's Ryan Price

1. This quarter I have done some stories, credits, anchored and everything in between. I did one story on energy consumption here at Eastview on November 13 after the dialogues. Next up I did the single ladies video for credits followed by the path from the loser lot credits the next week. I also have anchored with Hannah, Kelsey North (for the holiday episode) and most recently Paige. Finally I helped out with numerous stories as well as the "jingle bell rock" credits. One of my biggest strengths as a student in this class is my willingness to take on projects. I lead a busy life like everyone else, but I help out whenever I can and I think this benefits the class more than anything else I do.

2. My improvement this quarter has come in my journalism abilities. Not reporting or editing necessarily, but more in my people skills. I am better at asking the right questions to get the right soundbyte, getting better camera shots and at actually listening to what interviewees say.

3. This next quarter I would like to be able to do more of the technical stuff. Andrew Wipf is still my idol and when I watch the news on tv they have much more than just b-roll and a-roll; there are plenty of graphics, graphs and images. Adding those to my story in the next quarter would be beneficial.

4. This might sting a little, but I think it should. I really think everyone (some of us)need to do more. Being good at stuff in the class is nice, but I mean really? Some people help out with a project once a month and do their own once a quarter. Then they claim they cannot do more because they are busy. Well, we are plenty busy everyday in math class when we have stuff assigned to us, but we make the time. People need to start making the time or be willing to do more. The only way you are going to get better in this class is by actually doing stuff. We should be fighting over who gets to do stories, yet we are hiding each Friday when we need to figure it out. We are a team, let's keep working together.

5. This quarter I recorded the geek squad entrepreneurial promotion event at the Rosemount Community Center. I am putting it together and we are going to try to get it on the community access channel for DECA as well.

6. We're doing so well! Flash 08-09!

Hey this is Colleen,
1.This quarter I was part of Tyler’s story on Holiday giving with Lindsay. I was audio a few times for our show and I pretty much always help Tyler with audio for the 4 Cast. I have made crawl for whoever was doing globecaster a couple of weeks also. My strengths are that I am able to help everybody and do a few of the little jobs that need to be done. I haven’t done a lot as far as stories and things this quarter, but I don’t think it is my strength so I find other things to do. I love it when I am able to help someone learn how to do some simple thing and all the little details are what I am good at perfecting.
2.Improvements I have seen in myself is a more full awareness of every aspect of our shows as far as what needs to be set up, what looks right, and what needs some tweaking. But more than that I think I have become better at incorporating Tyler into jobs and I feel like he is really learning what to do and soon what even need guidance.
3.What I still need to improve on is my willingness to do certain jobs and volunteer for stories. Anything that involves editing I tend to stay away from and I would like to kind of spread myself a little more.
4.To improve our show we could be better at getting things done when they are supposed to be. It seems that as quarter 2 progressed we got worse at this. On top of that I think we need to polish our show a little.
5.Yes, my community service was taping the Music Man. I also was part of setting up for it.
6.I have to say this is my favorite class and I am glad it is living up to my expectations.

Hey Flashers! :]

1. This quarter I directed, worked with credits in Single Ladies, The Pancake Eating Contest, The Silly Foreign Exchange/Making Fun of Americans' Ignorance Credits, etc. I made the back-up story on Holiday Customs (if the Holidazzle Story were to fall through). I am currently working on my JDRF Walk Story, I've done teleprompter, cameras, anchored, audio with My Man- Tyler, floor director, and I am a darn good 'Flippi'! ;)

2. I like that I can finally figure out how to work that dang teleprompter. It's a tricky process & I love that even during a show, I know how to fix it quickly enough so as not to screw up the anchors! :]

3. Second quarter I may attempt credits.. :/ I'm a little tentative- I'm hoping Price will help me bring the funny- but I've got some ideas.. so we'll see.

4. I think we need to continue to work in advance so as not to end up with average credits or stories. We're too good to be average. :]

5. I talked with Dr. K about the opportunity that was presented to me by the lady from the Minnesota Association of Honor Societies- she wants me to make a video of my footage of the JDRF Walk for her website- I plan to do that.

6. I love you guys & 'the funny'. Let's eat more treats.

hola... hannah here

1) This quarter i reported the Girls Basketball Team story from the tipoff highlighting the success from last year and what's to come after losing some key seniors. I also helped out on numerous credits including the pancake eating contest and stories. In the class I think I am a good leader and help organize and direct the class/discussions.

2) This quarter I have really improved on globecaster and I have actually been able to teach others how to do it. I have also become more creative with my camera shots. I've started to look at things in a different way in hopes to enhance the piece.

3) I could still work on using different editing tools to enhance the stories and also camera work. Next quarter I would like to improve the above things and also anchor more.

4) I think that this quarter, especially in the middle we have done a good job of working ahead of schedule to make sure that people have a couple weeks to work on stories. This quarter it would be nice to continue and better this habit and also to keep working on creativity of shows, stories, and credits. This will make the show a lot more fun and keep our audience intrigued and interested.

5)I was a part of the musical crew this quarter for my community service.

6) I love our little Flash family and I'm really excited to wear our shirts =)

4. New open...more volunteers! Less procrastination.

5. Yes...I made a volleyball highlight tape and filmed the Music Man.

6. ...I love the Flash but we ned to do things ahead of time so we can enjoy class rather than stress out everyday. I'm liking the set treat days.

1. I did a story on the red carpet event at the mall. I have helped with some credits but have not taken control over one which i hope to do third quarter. I'm willing to do any job that anyone asks me to do.

2. I've been trying to learn some new stuff like after effects and photo shop.

3. I think I need improvement on volunteering more and i want to try to do a few stories untill waiting untill the last minute.

4. Maybe a new open, and people should help out more. Since i was in it i couldn't tape it but i wish i could have.

5. I helped out setting up the cameras for the music man.

6. YAY FLASH!!

Hello This is Mark,

1. Alex and I did a great story when we went down to the Holidazzle parade. We followed concert choir as they went on the adventure. I also was involved in multiple credits such as "single ladies", shoveling path to the loser lot, and jingle bell rock. My strengths I feel would have to be keeping people on task and having a positive attitude in the class.
2. I feel that my story skills have greatly improved and I now know more about making a great story.
3. One improvment I can think of would have to be my editing skills. They aren't quite up to par.
4. I would have to say that people need to start stepping up in the class and helping others out who do lots of stories and credits. If we use the whole class to help with things we will accomplish a lot more as a class.
5. My community service this quarter was filming the play "The Music Man" with emma, megan, and wipf.
6. Our class is improving in most of these areas and I can't wait to see what next quarter will bring.

SUP Y'all its $am Rock da water
1. -Helped Barry tape his story at the depot
-Did a story on winter driving and drove out to Arden Hills to get an interview
-Credits- "Single Ladies", Loyality lot (getting a white wash), Mean Girls credits
Strengths-
1. hard worker
2. Timely
3. Keep people on task
4. Help alot with flash extras

2. I have seen mucho improvement on my skills especailly in the area of making and creating a story. I have learned how to make my voice overs tell a story rather than jumping around from topic to topic. I have also learned serveral new thing that I can do when I use Premier.

3. I need some improvement to editing and possibly learning how to use After Effects more. I would enjoy learning more about photoshop and about after effects to make my stories that much better.

4. I think if people can step up and take stories rather than almost assigning it to someone. Also when multiple people help out others when they are doing a story is such a HUGE help. Step up to the plate people!

5. I did a big project by making the music video for the Dance Tech dance show and burning it to a DVD for them to show at there Q2 dance show. I did this about a week ago.

6. Keep it a rockin' ya'll!!!!

Paige here:

1.)This quarter I...
~black friday story
~loser lot winter credits
~pancake eating contest credits
~helped with the single ladies credits
~ halped people with various stories by getting interviews, footage etc.
My strength as a student are being punctual with my work, getting it done on time and not leaving it until the last minute.

2.)My skills in editing have greatly improved this quarter. I learned a lot of tricks such as adjusting audio, brightness and contrast, etc. I feel that it added a lot to stories and credits.

3.)I could still use improvements in special effects. While i don't necessarily use them in stories i could use them more in future credits.

4.)we definitely need a new open, and i think more people could learn how to use the globecastor. I feel we were better about volunteering this quarter though!!

5.)My community service this quarter was taping the nhs dialogue with tom, kelsey n, and lindsay.

6.) nope i think it's all been said.

Anonymous said...

Yo this is Tom

1. i did the boys hockey story this quarter as well as helping with paige's black friday story, the year in review story, and making the hot/nasty/dirty/sucio flash t-shirts. i think my strengths lay in the fact that when i have a story i make sure it get it done on time and without having to inconvienience other people to get my for me for the most part.

2. i have improved in my editting skills as well as not procrastinating and keeping my schedule organized so i know when i can and can not assist others.

3. i still need to work on making time to do more editting than needed so that i can revise and revise until i end up with the story i want. i would like to learn how to do cool graphics and changes like i have done with my mac at home.

4. i think a new set and a new open are becoming more and more necessary. the set is like 2 years old and the open looks like a 4cast open after this long as a show when it was at one point just going to be a filler.

5. my community service was filming the NHS dialogues at the beginning of the quarter with kelsey north, lindsay, and paigey.

6. i think people need to step up and help people when they take a story and say they need help.

also i wanna paint the editors :)

deuces.

Hey Flash family. Emma here.

1.) Here is a list of the things I have done this quarter:
-Twilight/Bond story
-"That 70's Show" Open
-"Single Ladies" credits
-"The Music Man" story
-Anchored the holiday show
-Made "Jingle Bell Rock" credits
-Made "iPod Idol" credits
-DP story
-STN Battle of the Bands story
-Interview for Peter's school lunch story

I think one of my greatest strengths in this class is that I always step up and take on projects, and I work REALLY hard to get them completed. And if I can, I am always willing to help out my fellow Flashers :)

2.) I think I have a better sense of what a story should be, and how to make footage and interviews into an actual story. I am also continually getting better at my editing and special effects skills, and I have noticed that I can edit much, MUCH faster than I used to. I was talking about this with Anna today- I remember last year how we would spend hours editing our 30-second 4Cast stories, and I just finished a three-minute story in basically two days.

3.) I still want to get better at using special effects and use them to improve my stories; add a little "flare" to them, if you will. I also want to work a little more at the jobs behind the scenes; I need to work the Globecaster a bit more! I also want to channel my inner Bob Dotson a bit and really "tell the story". I don't know if any of you guys have seen "Assignment America" on CBS Evening News, but those stories are always awesome and I think we should do some of those :)

4.) Okay, so I am going to have to agree with Ryan here. Yes, I know everyone is busy, but seriously, this is a class too! Our show just works SO much better if everyone is pulling their weight and working together. And people keep saying how they want to get better at doing this or that, but the only way that is going to happen is if you take on a project or two and work to make it good. I feel like I take on a lot, but I have really noticed an improvement in my skills, and I really want to see everyone have that feeling! It feels awesome, trust me!!! I love all of you guys, and I want to see us all get better!

As for improvements to the show, WE NEED A NEW OPEN!!! Yes, I would make one myself, but I made the last one. And I want to stress that that was supposed to be a one-week (maybe two) thing! Sorry I am a little bitter about that, but opens are honestly much easier than stories, and in many cases we already have the footage. And if you want/need help, just ask! There are plenty of us willing to help! :) Oh, and a new set would be sweet too. I promise to help build it!

5.) Yes, I have done my community service. I directed the filming of the musical, "The Music Man". (Good times, Mark! haha)

6.) Okay, I know I did a little bit of complaining, but I really think we are a really strong team. We all have unique skills that combine to help us make really good shows. We are doing so well and I want us to keep getting better! Love you guys and I am SO pumped for our shirts! Yay Flash!
-Emo (that's for you, Tom :) )

Hey this is Kelsey North

1. This quarter I did a story on the Gymnastics team. I helped Tom get stuff for his hockey story, I helped look up some things for the 2008 year in review story, helped Michael with his winter activities story, and helped Steph with her Coaches vs. Cancer story. My strengths include doing random things that people dont want to do themselves, i'm a real good flippi, and when I say I am going to do something I actually do it.

2. The biggest improvement I have seen in myself is learning how to do cool things on the ediotrs! (or at least I think they're cool) I used to only know how to do super basic stuff but now I know how to make graohics and designs and manipulate the clips which I could not do before.

3. I still need improvement in being comfortable to do atories other than Eastview sports and things like that because usually I do not feel that comfortable getting interviews and b-roll with people or things that I'm not familiar with. Next quarter I want to learn how to do more stuff on the editors so i can make things look even cooler :)

4. An improvement I think we need in this class is not just for people to volunteer to do things, but when people say they are going to go somewhere or do something, they need to honor that commitment and do it. I feel that a lot of times we have had stories fall through because somebody didn't go to an event or get an interview that they said they had planned to do.

5. My community service this quarter was filming the NHS dialogues with tom, paige, and lindsay which was kinda boring and took foreverrrrr!

6. Yay Flash lets bring treats more :)

Hey its Karlee!!

1. at the beginning of the quarter i did my story on the sadie hawkins dance, after that i didnt do another story but i helped michael tape stuff for his christmas story, and then helped other people throughout class to get their stories done.I also finally got to anchor this quarter. Also helped out with the pancake eating contest as well as other things. My strength is that even though i dont take many stories i try to help out as much as i can.
2. I have seen improvement in my writing for the show, as in script or reporter in and out as well as just seeing what other people write.
3. I need more improvement on making my stories better as well as being comfortable with the globecaster and audio.
4.We all (including myself) need to step up more in class, five or take a few people who always have stories for the majority of the class we need to step up.
5. Yes i have done mine which would be helping michael and spending the whole day with him when he did his winter story, going to macy's 8th floor and looking at chirstmas lights.
6. i agree with Kelsey North!!! more treats!!!!! :-)

Hi it's Alaina!

1. This quarter I directed, anchored, have done audio, telepromper, cameras, etc.. Did a story recapping 2008... Have helped people with stories/standups...I helped out with a few credits. I make the grpahics every Thursday. I think my strength in the class is I try to bring a positive attitude and keep it fun. I'm also very organized and am willing to help out with anything.

2. I have seen great improvement in my confidence in many aspects of creating a show

3. I still need to try Globecaster but I'm afraid of messing things up ha-ha

4. I think we need more teamwork. I mean we're here to make show, but we need to have fun with what we're doing

5. Yes, I helped a friend edit her church camp recap video (aka she didn't know how to edit so I did it and she watched me haha)

6. I'm not in the class next quarter:( dang gyms. But 4th quarter I'll be baaack:)

The Wipf said...

1. For this quarter I helped helped and created many credits, created two stories, and I created graphics for the show most thursdays. My strengths are that I am a good worker and I especially like working on these projects.

2. I have seen an improvement in the way I conduct (questions asked, camera shots) interviews, the way I animate things in after effects.

3. During the third quarter I want to learn how to make really outstanding graphics for the Globecaster. It seems to be a complete pain but people have done them before. I also need to get bettter at not procrastinating and getting things done on time.

4. I am looking forward to making changes to the lighting in the studio. Also, I have a few ideas for credits and opens that I will hopefully create this quarter.

5. I have run sound a couple of times this quarter, also, am helping with lights so that will count as community service.

6. This is going to be an awesome quarter! I can feel it!
