Hey this is Peter,
I can't believe I'm the first one doing this.
1. I did the Faculty and Prom story with Mr. Fedje for the faculty show. As well I've been teleprompter, floor director, and globe caster twice this quarter. I feel my stories are strong and I'm also pretty compfortable with globecasting.
2. I feel like I have become more comfortable with editing and using all of the studio equipment. More or less I just feel more ept at all the different aspects of broadcasting.
3. I think that you should require that the entire quarter be planned out the first week of the quarter rather then planning every single week. Obviously some changes could be made to these plans due to breaking news, or other things but it would make evrything run more smoothly.
4. I worked with my dad filming YPC's production of Seusical the musical, which I then also helped edit a bit at home and burned DVD's for the cast.
5. Keep the great possibilites that the Flash offers going for years to come. It is something I will always remember and miss, so I hope to hear good things from it in the future.
Hello friends..
this is Anna.
1) This quarter was not my best, partly because I was heavily involved in BRAVO! and other choir related things. This quarter I learned how to say "no." This can be seen as both a good and bad thing. Some may say that is pure laziness, however I believe it was an accomplishment. I have always been the "push over."
I DID..
The BOYS LAX story
and
THE FABULOUS LIFE OF THE FLASH MEN credits (sorry guys with Blake's jokes and my editing..those credits came off a little harsh.)
2) I have figured out the cool effects!!!! Finally!
3) We had an awesome year guys!! To the JUNEBUGS: don't procrastinate!!
4) I can't remember if I completed any community service hours this quarter but I am going to count the countless hours I spent completing my girls' basketball highlight tape.
5) Dear FLASHERS,
Thank you so very much for making this year the greatest! From wed. night editor parties to "Single Ladies" credits-you guys filled my day with laughter and joy and I will miss you all dearly. CONGRATS and best of luck to all as you head off to COOLlege:)
Love Always,
Anna Moorse
P.S.
yay girls' show
Hey guys this is Lindsay
or..lindsbee i guess... haha
1. This quarter I had two stories, the first was "Thrifty Prom" where I suggested a few ways to save money this year at prom, and the other story was "The Secret Life of Faculty" where I worked with Ms. Nelson to discover what our faculty does outside of school. I also worked around the studio during shows as director, floor director, camera operator, vtr, and timer/flippi...etc.
2. I have realy seen improvement in my comfort in interviewing people. Now that I know how to use the camera/equipment properly, I am much more at ease when interviewing people for my stories, resulting in much smoother sound bites.
3. I think that The Flash is great the way it is. If I had to change something, I guess it would be the set. It's been around now for a few years and I'd like to see something more current if we are going to have photo boards behind the anchors.
4. Yes. I was part of the film production crew for Bravo! It was a lot of fun and very interesting to run the show because it was so different from our regular productions.
5. Thank you so much for an amazing year. I learned so much about broadcast journalism and made a lot of friends :) I feel like we all worked together even more so than we did last year, which was nice.
Good job guys, have an awesome summer.
Hey this is Colleen,
1. This quarter I helped with the Just Panic AP horror stories credits and had a story for the Girls’ Show on celebrity obsessions. I have helped almost everyday with running the 4 Cast and have multiple times been audio and globe caster once or twice. My strengths as a student I think are that I am pretty good at helping people if they have a question and if I can’t answer it I can point them to someone who can.
2. It has been really weird recently. The very last week of quarter 3 I had a story and for the first time I was kind of impressed with how one of my stories ended up; I thought it couldn’t get much better then that. Then for the Girls’ show I had a story that had me for the first time going to a place other than Eastview to get interviews, was entertaining to others, and was relatively easy to produce. For some reason I don’t get how that can happen with my luck, but it did and it was awesome. I also like that as the Audio Queen I can tell you almost always why some audio sounds bad (ex. Barry’s story for the Senior Show he used a microphone but still had the camera switched to the internal audio…sorry Barry).
3. To make the Flash better I think a little bit of new equipment is needed. Due to all the broken decks in all the editors when people want to capture they have to use a camera making it so one less person can go out and get stuff for their story. With the missing/ broken cameras we had this year that is something that might make it better even though the cameras shouldn’t be broken/missing in the first place.
4.My community service was taping Bravo.
5. Few people at Eastview have a class that they will brag about to their friends, but the Flash is the class I do that with. Whether or not my friends like the credits I have every day looked forward to walking into the TV studio. It is something that I will never forget. The best part was getting to know all the different people that are involved in it so thanks for the good times and the great memories. For those of you I won’t see next year good luck with everything. Tom, Mark, Sam, and Michael, see you at St. Thomas.
- Colleen Colleen the Audio Queen
For the last time this is Paige!
1.) this quarter I did the story on ultimate frisbee and I also did the credits from our flash sleepover. I also did little things here and there helping people with their stories and/or credits as well. I think my strengths in the class were staying organized and staying on task when it was needed.
2.) i saw an improvment in my editing skills in time efficiency. Before it used to take me hours to complete a story done well. and now i can do one in half the time because i know the shots needed, the tools in adobe to use, and the best way to organize my stories.
3.)Every other quarter i said new open but now that we finally had one...! i can't think of any improvements on the show itself. I would just say getting the kids more comfortable with editing and the cameras such as white balance. showing them that they can fix the color on shots in adobe (brightness and contrast!) and get the audio slightly better in stories.
4.) my community service this quarter was doing two slide shows for the dance show. both the senior slide show and a basic picture slide show.
5.) i'm going to miss you guys!! best of luck next year wherever you'll be!
hey its barry
this quarter i did many different things from doing the ideal male story then the story about what people will miss about the seniors. I also helped with the frolfing story and was involved guy show open. I have become more comfortable infront of the camera and don't feel nervous when i talk. I feel that if people don't procrastinate our stories and show were flawless. Filmed bravo for community service. The flash is a very fun class that i wish more students at Eastview would apply too and hope everyone has a great summer!
This is Kelsey North
1. Okay so this quarter I did a story on how awesome our girls sports teams did this year for the girls show, I helped with the song for the AP test credits, I helped people get interviews and I helped Tom with his story. As for jobs, I did teleprompter like 389432856 times again because nobody else would do it! (its not even that bad), I did cameras, floor director, and VTR I think mainly.
2. I have improved in editing because I even know how to change the audio levels and put in cool effects that help our the lighting and stuff (hey that was a big accomplishment for me thank you very much).
3. Oh my gosh we need things to put your tape in so you can capture it on the editors instead of having to use a camera to capture only through editor 6 and 1!! And a new set would be mighty fine too!
4. I helped with the Bravo thing for community service
5. Thanks for helping me KEEP IMPROVING everyone :) seriously though...
Kelsey Reger here.
1. This quarter I did the College Story, the Women in the Arts story, the open for the faculty show, got footage for Paige's Ultimate story and helped out with the girls show open. And I've mostly been- floor director and teleprompter. Anchored once I think and random stuff for the Girls Show.
2. I improved with searching for the best piece of an interview and shaping my stories.
3. I think the Flash would be made better if again, the planning could be done in advance- for instance if every show had three stories for which people signed up at the beginning of the quarter.
4. I helped a friend with their A.P. Euro video for community service.
5. I'm going to miss everyone! Thanks Dr. K!
Hey its Emma for the last time :(
Sorry this is a little bit late!
1. This quarter I spent a LOT of time on the Senior Video, I went to the Best Buddies Prom with Hannah and helped her film and edit, anchored a bunch of times, helped with the Price/Gauger wrestling credits, did the Girls' Show open, and put together the Girls' Show anchor segments.
2. I feel overall more confident with my skills in broadcasting. I am comfortable running every position and I am much better with stories and editing. I know Premiere much better and I am comfortable doing various things with it. I can also do things much faster.
3. There are not many improvements that come to mind, but I really think it is important to get things done early and really communicate. I also agree with Colleen and think having the decks fixed would be helpful. And I think everyone should be taught how to make sure we don't get that "Media Offline" thing with the Chinese writing :) haha. So frustrating. And also I think having students well acquainted with Photoshop and AfterEffects would be helpful.
4. Yes, I helped film "BRAVO!". I think I directed...can't really remember though :)
5. I LOVE the Flash. You all are some of my favorite people. We were such a great group and I think that is so hard to find. I've built connections with so many new people because of this class and have friendships that will last for years to come. Thanks everyone for an awesome two years and I hope to keep in touch with every single one of you!!! And thanks for the greatest memories! And a special thanks to you, Dr. Krebs, for everything!!!
Love you all,
Emma
P.S. I dare next year's Flashers to come even slightly close to how awesome we were (Never going to happen :) )
Hi friends it's Hannah =)
1. This quarter I headed up the "Just Panic" credits and did a story on the Best Buddies Prom. I've also helped out with getting interviews/footage for other stories (girls celebrity obsessions) and credits. My primary strengths in the class are my leadership and ability (or at least attempt) to focus and direction within the class day to day.
2. This year I continued to improve upon my use of the camera, I got much better at editing, and also got more creative with angles of stories.
3. I think that overall we finished the year very strong. For next year I would suggest to stay ahead of schedule all of the time so that shows are planned at least a week or two in advance. The Flash is ALWAYS better that way.
4. My community service this quarter were 2 videos for the dance show (beginning video/song intros).
5. I want to thank everyone in our class for such a great year. We definitely had our ups and downs but Krebs was right when he talked about the chemistry we have as a group. For me this wasn't just a class everyday... I walked into 4th hour and got to see my family. It's been amazing and good luck everyone next year. I'll miss you all! Love you!
Hannah =)
1) I edited the I'm On A Segway credits, I anchored one show, I did the Girls Track story, I also did the Q4 Open in After Effects, I did the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Wing Challenge credits, and I compiled and buillt the Quarter 3 Archive.
2) I have improved in my skills across the board. Editing the Segway credits tested me quite a bit, the open helped me become more efficient with After Effects, building the various DVDs have made me more efficient with how I work with the Adobe Creative Suite.
3) I think a bigger push for students to get involved in Photoshop and After Effects would help every one out. Also a new/improved set where the anchors are either standing, closer together, or both.
4) Various Sundays throughout the quarter I worked sound at my church. I also helped film BRAVO!
5) Thanks for an awesome 2.5 years! It has truly been an absolutely amazing experience working with everyone!!! H.A.G.S. :D
Hey everyone this is Mark!
1. This quarter I did the boys golf story way at the beginning of 4th quarter. I also played a big role in credits for the guys show and did lots of jobs in the studio as well such as floor director, cameras, and vtr.
I thought I did great stories this year and I felt way more comfortable with the jobs.
2. The most comfortable positions I have are editing, cameras, and teleprompter. I feel like I will still remember how to do all these things plenty of years from now.
3. I think the best idea would be to plan the stories at the beginning of the year instead of week by week because thats what really killed us. This would make everything run much smoother.
4. My community service this quarter was helping with filming of different plays and dialogues towards the end of the year.
5. Thanks to the Flash for giving me such great opportunities and opening up so many doors for me in the future. It really helped me grow as a person and made me believe more in myself and my abilities. I'm sure it will get nothing but better in the coming years
sup ya'll?
its the rock
1. I did the segway story/technology story, boys show credits, did senior show credits, and helped film and edit with multiple stories
My strength was my willingness to work with people and get stuff done. I helped many people film and edit over the past year and quarter.
2. My biggest improvement was in my transitions and my overall quality of my story. My first story was horrible but got much better by the end of Q4
3. maybe more equipment and a new set/new photos on the set, they are of people who grad 4 years ago....its time for some new ones
4. BRAVO!!! ...word...
5. Guys show all the way!!!!
good luck to everyone in the future, great crew and MTV got _ _ _ _ on us haha peace out homes! thanks for a great year
~Samuel Rauchwarter
P.S. nice post barry, well thought out...
1. i helped anna get the anchors (sagen and douma) get ready for the faculty show, done numerous jobs, and two stories i believe.
2. i think i continued to use my skills well and thought this was a really successful quarter especially with all the themed shows at the end
3. share responsibility more.. possibly make story partners to sign up with so theres always more then one person who has the opportunity to go film or get b-roll
4. i did my video yearbook stuff for my LDT story
5. this was one of my best experiences at EVHS and when we finished our last show was when i really realized that our senior year was done.. good job everyone and i'm sure we'll all go on to do great things..
signing off for the flash for the last time..
this is Tom
:)
Hey it's Sertic.
We had a fun year guys :)
1. Anchored the Man Show, shot/edited Faculty Fitness, shot Karlee's interviews (they looked sweet!), assisted credits for Man show, shot/edited ultimate season credits, shot/edited Leeman vs. Burke credits. And teleprompter was super duper. I felt my strengths were that i brought the thunder to the team.
2. I feel that I've grown to finding out what the people want and experiencing new boundaries of not just giving a story, but a entertaining story at that.
3. The flash needs more enthusiasm and freedom. Doing a show is half the battle, but entertaining is the beauty and pride of what the flash really is. So I say that next year and the years that follow have the team appropriately feel free to not live by the script but by the thought of entertaining.
4. I added pictures to the senior slide show and helped Karlee receiving her interviews which were a lot of fun.
OOPS, I just checked my email, I'll do this anyway just for old times sake...
This is Ryan by the way.
1. Well, Q4 was a busy quarter for me. I did faculty show credits and the last credits. I also did my bravo story and one other story that I can't remember right now (the Flash archives aren't appearing on the web page right now). Of course I did all of the jobs on Thursdays like my classmates.
2. I am with Anna, I have finally figured out some effects and how to streamline editing.
3. My only regrets are that we never made a new set and that we procrastinated all the time, other than that though, I was pretty content! Very content actually!
4. I don't know if this counts but I helped two friends with their mythology videos. I could not help tape bravo unfortunately!
5. First off, thanks everyone for kicking butt. I remember hearing at STN last year how unavoidably cliquey the Flash was and well we avoided it. Our shows were always AT LEAST as much fun to make and do as they appeared to the audience. This is why I loved doing it week in and week out. I will bring our Q1,2,3and 4 dvds to our ten year reunion so we can reminisce. Thanks everyone for an awesome year and make sure we stay in touch.
