Hey, it's Reger.
1. This quarter I have done two stories- The first story I completed was on New Teachers at Eastview and the second was a personal interest piece on Sam Benda. I worked behind the scenes-operating cameras, vtr, audio with tyler :), taping the school play for volunteering and being an actress in the credits Wipf made.
2. I think I've become better at time management this quarter because I had to find time to complete two stories with my busy schedule- I learned to take advantage of breaks we have in class and edit outside of school- during MEA most efficiently.
3. I think I still need to improve with the equiptment. I'd like to learn to do cool things with editing. Maybe Wipf can teach me!
4. To make the Flash better, we need more people who haven't completed stories or who have not done many, to step up and volunteer- I know it's hard because we are all very busy people, but in order to get done maybe we can work together more. I think there should be two leads for a story.
5. I did complete my community service. This quarter I was a part of the crew who taped the fall play- The Kentucky Cycle.
6. I think we need a new open besides simply the themed ones. A permanent new open. :]
Hey Samuel Rauchwarter herrrr...
1. -girls tennis story
-punk'd credits
-Political credits
-positions-camera 2x, floor director, timer, anchor, pressing play to roll the 4cast numerous times
2. I noticed a big improvement on the credits from filming and editing and done in an hour and a half to finishing the political credits the next week which turned out much better and much improved. I also noticed an improvement in my girls tennis story. I thought i had what looked to be a pretty good story till dr krebs came in and showed me some things that i could do better. I then proceeded to continue to edit and make my story better. The final story ended up being alot better than before the edits.
3. I think i need improvement on developing my skills in creating and making a story flow better. I also need some work on my voice overs, to make then fill in the blanks better. I want to learn how to do more in premier and to learn to use final cut so i can work on my stories at my mac at home.
4. We could always improve on not having to film the credits at the last minute. That happened in the credits i did for scaring hannah. I had to do it the night before in a short period of time and it showed by not having them look good or be funny at all. Another thing we could do could be to keep the show fresh would be to have more theme shows. Theme shows are a little bit harder but i remember from years past at how people remember the theme shows.
5. I taped the fall dance show for ms mahr and the dance department.
6. I agree with reger that we need a new general opening for the show. gracias to wipf for making all the graphics this quarter and gracias to the whole crew for making the shows go smooth thus far.
Hello it's Bauer..
1. -football fan story
-assisted Hannah on school improvement story
-assisted Paigey on T-Shirt policy story
-anchored with Kait
-retrieved interviews for others peoples stories, (Mr. Beach for Colleen's political story, Mr. Beach/Ms. Gomez/Mr. Sherwin for Stephs homecoming story, Kayla Joyce with Kelsey North for the upcoming volleyball story)
-numerous odd jobs like cameras and flippi(ing) the switchy
2. I have noticed that instead of just brainstorming story ideas and credits ideas that people have stepped up with more frequency. However, this was likely due to the quarter-end rush to get a story in, and I think that planning ahead would be prudent (cool word) for the beginning of the next quarters.
3. I need to learn how to get away from the boring cuts in editing and make something that people will actually notice as new. Perhaps learning one cool editing thing that can be done for the story just to break of the monotonous cuts to b-roll and cuts back to interviewees.
4. I think that we still need to get more people not IN the flash ON the flash because people like seeing their friends on TV more than the same 20 faces. Also I think that an open that had the same clips but something as small as a new song every week that maybe had to do with on the the stories would be cool. Also, credits can go for an easy laugh every once and a while too, not always, but every once in a while it's funny to see people getting knocked over or see people crazy dancing to a song they know.
5. My community service was filming Cross Country events for Coach Sharp when not running.
6. Samesies on the open (which i think is in the works by Wipf or Emma or someone) and also a new set. When people see the same set behind us as last year and i think the year before that..? i know it bring up some unpleasant shows that I know we're trying to get away from. Perhaps over winter break or something a bunch of us could get together and at least change the black background and pictures to something more representative of current day eastview (and not just half of a Kait on one of the pictures).
yay flash this was a good quarter i think.. i'm mad i'm missing the sports show tomorrow :(
Hey, it's Colleen
1. This quarter I did a story on the affect of late night TV shows in the election and taped girls cross country and their state meet. As far as jobs I have done audio multiple times both for the flash and the 4cast, have done globecaster once, and made crawl graphics a few times. My strengths in this class are audio and helping people with things that I know how to do and they don't.
2. I have seen improvements in how I am much more aware of everything going on in a show and also when I have a job, during run throughs I may screw up a few times but by the time we are live I am able to get the kinks out and just go with it.
3. I think could use some work at being more open to things I am not completely comfortable with. In quarter 2 I want to learn more of how to make a story that means a little more to someone instead of just being something to watch.
4. We need to start filming credits earlier and to do that we need to think of them earlier. I know that some weeks are harder than others but it is something we need to do.
5. For community service I taped the play during MEA
6. I really like the direction we are going as a class. We work together well and brainstorm up ideas as a class. The shows we have been doing recently are something that I don't really remember seeing on a lot of other Flash shows in past years other than when the theme was the boys or girls show. I think we do a good job with them.
Hey this is Lindsay
1. This quarter I had a two minute story on The Top 5 Fall Activities for 2008. I planned a TON...calling different locations and setting up interviews etc. then went to the various locations for filming. I assisted in filming various interviews for other stories this quarter as well. I was able to help out with stories during class and participate in the shows by directing, teleprompting, doing audio, working the camera, along with other jobs. I think my stength in this class is that I love helping others. Whether it be with writing an anchor script or helping to film a story I am always willing to assist in any way possible. I am also a good listener, listening to the ideas of others to incorporate into the show and make it better.
2. I have seen a lot of improvement in my story editing skills. I was able to create a story that had a thread throughout the whole thing and actually made sense. I was able to take out the choppyness of the interviews without making the soundbites sound really bad (which is definitely improvement from last year). On top of that, I was able to use the camera properly to achieve some really great/dynamic shots :)
3. I still need improvement in learning how to work the Globecaster. I've tried learning like at least 3 times and I just get really confused. I would love to volunteer for this job but I feel like I don't want to ruin our entire show!!! ...hopefully i'll getter a better grasp on it for second quarter.
4. In order to make our show better I think that we should try to plan all of our stories far in advance. That way, each student will know what their responsibilities are and will have a good chunk of time to perfect the anchor script, their stories (or the credits). I think this will result in a better show overall.
5. Yes! I have completed my community service as of yesterday. I mailed the copy of my fall activities story to the owner of Applewood Orchard along with a thank you note for letting us come in and film for the day. :)
6. I am really excited for second quarter and to get a cool new open. I think it would be really cool if over winter break we could build a new set too! Thanks to everyone for a good first quarter, I had a lot of fun :)
Hey it's Alaina
1. This quarter I did the story on the fall play, I anchored with Peter, I assisted in many people's stories by getting interviews during 3rd hour and going along to places to get B-Roll, etc. I've done behind the scenes stuff- directed, camera, audio, 4cast stuff
2. I've seen improvement in my editing efficiency. I enjoy it more because I'm not COMPLETELY confused.
3. I still need improvement in technical stuff because that's totally not my thing. I need to learn the dang Globecaster!!!
4. We need to do credits over the weekend. We can't try to come up with stuff the Wednesday before. It just doesn't work.
5. Yes, I did complete my community service. I created the video yearbook story for corornation and am starting the one for the fall play.
6. YAY FLASH:)
Hey its barry
This quarter i have done one story on LINC challenge day. I also have helped by going out and filming at the corn maze and valley scare for a story. Also got mr beach interview for political story. I have anchored multiple times as well as run the camera and vtr and floor directed.
This quarter i became better at using my classtime efficiently. I worked a lot of stuff during class because after school i had a sport and homework at night.
I still need to improve on learning how to work the globecaster since i don't know how to do it.
I feel that we need to get more students involved on the show. Maybe a on air interview of something that shows a athlete promoting their sport or a teacher talking about spanish club something other than just the anchors. I don't know if this counts but i did the story on freshman challenge day which some footage could be used in the story on underclassman for the yearbook. I think we need a now open as well but lets not rely on that one person to make it..aka mike jones lets all maybe throw ideas out there and make it as a group or something.
hey its kelsey north
1. I have done a story on the volleyball team, for jobs I have done: cameras, teleprompter, VTR, anchor, floor director, i have also helped other people do things for their stories like get interviews, help research and get information, and i got some soccer footage. I think my strengths are being willing to help people with story stuff and working hard :)
2. I have seen improvement on my editing skills and working with the camera. I always got confused with the wireless microphone stuff but now I know how to do it!
3. I need to improve on making things less boring because I pretty much know how to do the basics but I don't know how to do cool things
4. We need to help other people more because it's a lot of work to put something like the credits on one persons shoulders because most people want to be in them but they dont want to spend the time working on editing them. I also think we need a new open and we could throw in a humorous story every now and then
5. Yes I've done my community service. I taped the boys soccer section semifinal game when we didnt do a story on it (the boys won in a shootout by the way which looks cool on tape) :)
6. I think everyone has improved and is doing a good job at helping people get footage or interviews for another person's story when somebody can't do it themselves
1. I did one story this quarter on the Egan family and homecoming. My strenths are probably anchoring i love being in front of the camera and doing the seen part of the show. I also am good at the behind the scenes things
2. I have improved my editing skills and have learned some new things that i can do on the computer and the editor.
3. I still need to improve on being able to help more and doing more stories, which i will be able to do in quarter 2 because i will be having more time to do things.
4. I just think everybody, including myself, needs to put in more effort to make our show the best.
5. I have started my community service which was the video yearbook for the first day pepfest, which i could not finish because of state for volleyball, and did it at the end of the quarter.
6. This make this quarter even better :-)
the previous comment was Karlee :-)
It's Anna.
1. *footage for Kait's "Class of2012" story
*footage for Ryan's "Adaptive Soccer" story
*"Eagan vs. Egan" credits
*Volleyball story
*Pulled some late nighters to help finish up Michael and Tom's stories.
*Anchored with Michael for the HC show
2. I have become more comfortable with filming and editing my work and feel that I'm starting to volunteer more often to help the class out.
3. I would like to be more comfortable with writing scripts and voice overs. I would also like to find better story angles and find that catch..that "gold nugget" and run with it. I would also like to learn how to work the Globecaster.
4. For our show to improve we need more people to step up. We all have so much talent and believe we have so much to offer. This show could be amazing!!
5. *Homecoming video for Kevin S.
*Anatomy project
*Filmed the volleyball state tourney and am planning on putting something together for their banquet.
6. Just have fun!! I love my Flash fam and I think there is a need for a set treat day rather than eating the 4Cast left overs..Apparel? We have some designs..
GO VOLLEYBALL GIRLS-TAKE STATE!!
Hey its Ryan P here!
1. This quarter I worked on several projects. I had two stories, one on Lakeville South and the other one on the Dakota Hawks Team. I did "Drive through wars" with Mark and Vincent for credits one week. I also helped out in the political show by filming the credits and doing the open. My strengths are probably in reporting and editing.
2. I was very proud that I globecasted today! The improvement in my personal skills has probably come in the form of directing or working the cameras. After Wipf filmed the credits where I am giving the motivational speech I learned a lot from his shots and it opened me up to other ideas.
3. I probably still need improvement in my technical skills with the camera and with Premiere/Final Cut. There is a lot of undeveloped potential there for cool stuff I could be doing with stories, credits, etc. however I have not taken the time to do that. This is something I definitely want to learn in second quarter.
4. I agree with everyone else. I think that within the next two weeks we should try to plan the quarter out between stories and credits. This is going to make time management possible and I know it will add greatly to the quality of our shows, stories and credits. This is something I think we should take the time to do this quarter before we do anything else.
5. I have done my community service with the DECA chapter. I filmed and helped edit a video for the Fall Leadership Conference. I am also going to make my Dakota Hawks story into a video yearbook segment this weekend.
6. We have done an awesome job so far I think. We have not done the same stories that every year does, which is something I love. We have also been a little more creative in our anchor scripts. I look at what we've done this quarter and realize just how good of a job we have done. Music video credits soon and a new open would be good! We are rocking! Go 2008-2009 Flash!
This is paige!
1. this quarter i did a story on the new t-shirt policy and some of the controversy behind it. I also worked with ryan on the open for the political show that we did. I went and taped the volleyball game for Kelsey North's story. Behind the scenes of often had a job either directing, teleprompting, audio, globe cast etc.
2. individually I feel that i've gotten better at organizing and planning my story. Now when i go and get interviews i know what i'm looking for. I have also become better at editing quickly. Quality is not lost but now i know more shortcuts and small special effects that will add to a story.
3.One thing that i know i can definitely work on is making sure everything is set to go before i go and tape. (check that there are batteries in the wireless mics etc) I'd love to learn how to do the graphics that wipf does!
4.I know that people are very very busy but one way that i think that the flash could be better is if we had more people volunteering. I think part of the problem even if people offer help no one wants to be stuck doing it last minute on wednesday. I think if we truly had people helping when they offered even with editing that would help a lot.
5. I did complete my service! i was part of the crew that taped The Kentucky Circle the first saturday of MEA
6. nope! a new open would be nice though.
4.
1. This quarter I have done both the story on John McCain for our election show, and the credits about Mr. Bailey for Homecoming week. As well I was the first person to be globecaster, and have since then taught almost all others how to do so.
2. In general I have seen my ability to get interesting sound bites improved. The McCain rally showed me a lot with the sort of rushed interview process, wihich made both the B-roll shooting, and the interviews very fun and interesting for me to do.
3. I would like to become a better storyteller in my stories. I want to be able to take an idea for a story and find a new and interesting angle to take it with, that will really appeal to our audience.
4. I think we need to be better and planning ahead, with all sotries for everyone assigned almost weeks in advance. This tales the pressure off of people for getting stories done when they have little time. Instead the work on the stories as they can along the way.
5. I haven't done my commnity service, but I am interested in editing together a video yearbook story over the weekend.
6. I think we need a new open for quarter 2, but for the most part everyone is doing a great job.
hello! Hannah here =)
1) This quarter I headed the new improvements to the stadium story, as well as assist on other stories with interviews and editing, including steph's homecoming story and one of Paige's. I have also participated/assisted with acting in and editing the credits. During the shows I have been the VTR operator, Flippi, audio, teleprompter, cameras, and globecaster. I think that I am a pretty good leader in the class and do my best to keep people motivated and help out with odd jobs whenever I can.
2) I believe that I have improved with my knowledge of the globecaster because I had never experienced it until this year as well as editing techniques to improve the quality of stories.
3) I think that I can always continue to improve in the area of editing and also thorough knowledge of all of the jobs in the studio. Second quarter I hope that I can improve upon these things.
4) As a class we need to continue to do our best at getting shows planned well in advance and also using our class time to either work on the show or help out around the studio.
5) My community service for this quarter was taping the fall play over MEA. It was a blast =)
6) The year has been great thusfar and if we continue to be passionate about improving our shows then we will only get better and better. Let's keep being creative and making good stories and credits. It's always fun to have a really good show =)
Hello, it's Mark
This quarter I have done one story on Barack Obama for the election show that we had. I have also anchored many different times and have worked behind the scenes from camera to audio. I have also been apart of many of the credits that have happened this year.
I think that I have become much better at my efficiency to get things done in the class. I have become better at finishing stories early and finding extra time outside of class to finish them. I also feel like I have volunteered more often then I did in the 4cast last year for different jobs and stories.
My biggest difficulty would have to be editing. I still have to learn all those neat tricks with transitions and how to make everything look cleaner on screen.
I believe one way we could make the flash better is to maybe have more people volunteer for stories because it seems like we have a tough time getting people to do them. This might be easier if we had two people take a story instead of leaving just one person in charge of everything.
My community service has been completed. I taped the fall dance show with Sam Rauchwarter.
I think it would be really neat if someone could make a new set cause I think the one we have is getting kind of old.
Hey all, its Emma. I totally would have had this published earlier, but the stupid thing deleted on me :( So here goes attempt #2.
1. This quarter I have done a story on Girls' Swimming and Girls' Soccer. I got an interview with my mom for Steph's homecoming story. I was in charge of Vincent's credits, assisted with the "Volleyball Creeper" credits, and was part of the political credits. I anchored once with Mark and then was the third anchor on the political show. I have also done various jobs behind the scenes.
I think one of my major strenghs lies in the fact that I really care about this show and I am very dedicated to it. I will often pick up projects that I really do not have time for, but I want our show to be the best it can be. I also do my absolute best on anything I do for the class.
2. I really think that every time I do a story or some other project, overall my skills get better. I think every time I sit down to edit something I become more efficient and more confident with what I am doing. I also am able to set up a camera and prepare for interviews and such, which I think can really help. I also really like the fact that we now have more time to do a story, and we can really sit down and work with it and really do a good job.
3. I still want to find some stories to do that will really make the audience feel something and will affect them in some way. After doing Best Buddies Prom last year, I really have that drive to find those meaningful topics. I also must admit that I think Wipf is a tech genius, and this quarter I definitely want to learn some of the things he can do, because I think that now that we all pretty much know the basics, it would be really cool if we could take our skills to the next level. I think that certain graphics and animations like he has done could really help improve our show overall.
4. I think it is really important that in the future we have more people stepping up and taking the initiative to step out of their comfort zone and take on something new. There are some people in the class that I know have really busy schedules and are taking really hard classes and yet they continually step up and take on projects they really do not have time for. I have done this at times, and I know people are really busy, but I think that if we all made just a little extra effort now and then our show could really turn out well. Stories, credits, and EVERYTHING ELSE about the show turn out way better if they are done early and therefore there is more time to work on them. And I agree with Anna- we are a REALLY talented class and this show could really be amazing!
5. Yes, I was involved in the production of the fall play over MEA break, and I also have and will film the state volleyball games.
6. Yeah Flash. Love you all.
Andrew Wipf here.
1) I made themed show open videos, tv graphics and the Globecaster graphics for nearly every show. I completed one story about sports related knee injuries at EVHS. And I created some pretty awesome credits
2) I have greatly improved my production skills across the board. My editing ability has greatly improved, as well as my ability to create visually appealing graphics to use for the show.
3) During the third quarter, I really want to test the limits of what I can create in after effects.
4) I still think we need a new set. And other people need to make opens!
5) I have done community service for my church. I mix sound on some Sunday mornings.
6) I love The Flash!
Hi my name is Kait.
1.This quarter I have done two stories. I did the Freshmen Orientation story and a story on the Fall Dance Show. For my community service I taped the boys section soccer game for the video yearbook. In class I have directed, done VTR, globecaster, and cameras. I have helped people get interviews during classtime.
2. The big improvement I noticed was between my two stories. My first story was still very much a "4-Cast story," I had very basic B-Roll and did most of the talking, where as my second story was mostly filled with interviews instead of my voice, and I had more creative shots and a wider range of B-Roll.
3. I need to improve on knowing how to use stuff from time to time. I feel like I'm always asking Wipf or somebody to help me figure things out.
4. We need everybody to step up and do closer to the same amount of work instead of those who barely do anything. We also need to share ideas more in advanced so things aren't left until the last minute.
5. I completed my community service by taping one of the boys soccer section games for the video yearbook.
6. As everyone said, we desperately need a really good new open. We also should plan a bunch of credit ideas in advanced and then start some of them on the weekends and ahead of time so that they are really good, even though i think are credits have been great so far.
Sertic here!
1. I've done Simba credits, My renaissance story, girls soccer footage, broadcast training credits. my strengths wpould be my can do attitude and creative abilities.
2. My editing skills have improved and story making and making the set look like a real stage set.
3. I need improvment to not prcrastinate when editing. I would like to globe cast by the end of the 2nd quarter. And 2 goals would be to direct credits and anchor a fantastic show.
4. I would like to see an improvement with commitment as a whole. I know we're all busy but we can do it!
5. My community service was done when I captured footage at the girls soccer game.
1) This quarter I have done one story about september 11th. I have also have helped for two credits (the political show and the pre-drive wars credits). On the Thursdays I have consistently helped behind the scenes with floor directing and camera work. I try to voulenteer as much as I can for outside activites as well.
2)I have seen improvement in pretty much all possible areas of my skills. I was not in the 4cast last year, so my skills were lacking when I first came to the class. But through the sorties and voulenteering (and also just watching) I have learned alot. I know how to make a story and edit, as well as improvment on my abilities with the camera and floor directing.
3) I think I still need improvement in the areas I have not done yet this year. Such as anchoring and directing, I have not done them, so they are not as strong. I want to anchor and direct some next quarter in order to improve these areas.
4) I think that we could improve on the excitement we have about the show. It seems like each week we have to drag and beg each other to do stories or credits. I wish that we could be more excited about participating and take charge of some shows.
5) I have done my community servie by taping the fall play 'the Kentucky cycle'. It was a great experince.
6) We have a great show and many opportunities to use.
