1. I anchored with Paige Campbell, on September 11. Then on September 18 I did "Drive Through Wars" with Mark Gauger. Finally on the 25 during HC week, I did the story on the Lakeville South Cougars.

2. I have seen some improvement not necessarily in my skills this year but in how comfortable I am while doing stories. For the Lakeville South story I did not have to read and practice my stand-ups; although I wrote out my interview questions I did not use them- I was very comfortable interviewing the principal. Same with my interviews with the students. I asked if they'd be willing to be interviewed and then I just put the mic on them and asked them questions. So I feel much more comfortable in front of the camera and while I am interviewing others.

3. I still need improvement in editing. My drive through wars credits were edited pretty poorly. I also want to learn final cut, and maybe how to be a little more photogenic. Time management would be nice as well. One goal for the end of this quarter would be to master Final Cut and another would be to learn the other softwares like photoshop.

4. I think The Flash could be improved if we stepped away from the normal set up we use every week. Not necessarily the set, but maybe just the format. I think our format is awesome, however the audience may get bored always knowing whats coming next.

5. I have not done the community service yet this quarter. I am recording the play on Saturday.

6. I think if we plan further ahead of time we will do better. I think we should move away from the usual stories as well and maybe do some reports that have not been done in the past. All in all I think we are doing really good! Go Flash!

Hey guys it's Lindsay
1. So far this quarter I have worked behind the scenes doing various jobs such as audio, teleprompter and assisted in getting interviews for Stephanie's story about homecoming with students. I am currently working on a story "Top 5 Fall Activities". I went out last Saturday and filmed and am currently capturing and editing the footage :)

2. I think I have learned a lot about interviewing people. That we should hold more of a conversation and not just ask them questions and tell them exactly what to say or how to word things. We should go into an interview looking for something and use the interviews to let the story develop.

3. I think I still need to improve on my tech-savvy-ness (even though that's definitely not a word haha). I feel like I want to learn more about photoshop, making graphics and cool editing tricks to use in my stories. My two goals are to learn how to make graphics and also how to use photoshop :)

4. I think we have really come together as a group to produce a good show. I think that having a new open would be nice so that we can incorporate all of the kids in our class :) Other than that, I think our anchor scripts and stories ave been very well written and everybody shuld keep up the great work!

5. I have not yet done my community service but am planning on making a little highlight tape of the Applewood Apple Orchard for the owners because they wanted to have a copy.

6. I agree with Ryan with getting things done earlier and not procrastinating until the very end to edit our stories or even to come up with story ideas. I feel that if we can get the big board filled in early on in the quarter, everyone can plan their schedules accordingly so when they have a story they don't have to worry about taking work off or any other extra curricular activities that tend to get in the way. (time seems to be an issue for everyone)
oh...and one last thing....TREATS!!!! :) good job guys

Hey it's Anna.

1. *b-roll for kait's "Class of 2012" story
*"Egan VS. Eagan" credits
*pulled some late night editing help for Tom and Michael to finish their stories
*anchored with Michael for the HC show
*filmed, edited and burned a DVD of Kevin's HC video

2. I have greatly improved editing wise. I have never edited my own story-so I am pretty excited about that.:) I also am pleased with my b-roll for the most part..

3. I need to work on taking the time to find a good story angle. I feel like when I have the opportunity to come up with something great I don't take the risk. I then end up with a simple re-cap (boring). I felt I could have done so much more with the volleyball story. I would also like to work on my writing, whether it be a stand up or and anchor script-I definitely need some major help! Also, I would love to understand Wipf's mastery of effects. GOAL #1- learn cool effects. GOAL #2- Finish a well planned out volleyball segment for the video yearbook.

4. We as a class need to work on the issue of procrastination. We are all so talented and I think we are capable of doing great things. We need to apply ourselves (if that even makes sense).

5. For my service project I filmed, edited and burned a DVD for Kevin S. It was his way of asking Hayley to HC. I am also going to film and edit a CIS Anatomy project.

6. A new open would be nice..EVTV apparel..I'll start up the treat sheet!-I'm bringing something for this friday!

Hey it's Colleen
1. This quarter I have volunteered to be an executive producer of the video yearbook which has the work for it coming soon. This hasn’t been done yet but I also have a story lined up on teen voting. I have also been audio for two of our flash shows and multiple times for when we run the 4cast. As a student I think I am strong in how I offer help to people when they ask me and I know I can help them. When I don’t know the answer to a question I point them in the right direction of someone who would know it. I think another strength of mine is in how I work hard in my job during our shows to do the best I can and give Eastview a high quality show.

2. I have seen Improvements in my individual skills as far as I guess be as precise as possible with audio. I kind of annoy myself with it sometimes, but it is one thing in this class I am not completely scared of doing and I get to help everyone else do it when they need it. Not only in audio though but in other jobs am I finding that I am better learning how they work and more easily understanding them.

3. What I still need to work on is my ability to get out of my comfort zone and do things that I am not 100% confident in. Whether it be doing certain stories or easily agreeing to anchoring or learn how to do globecaster, they are things I have yet to attempt this year. This quarter I want to learn what the difference is between a good story and a great one. Two goals I have are to try and make at least one hopefully great story and become more confident in other jobs. This will help set me up for a great year.

4. I think what we are doing right now is getting us in the right direction, but I thin kif anything we could work on is keeping our show fresh. This involves maybe changing some set up of the show but a major part right now to me is that we need a new open whether it have all the people in the class in it or just be around Eastview.

5. As of right now I have not done any community service but plan to help film the play on Saturday and will probably edit a story for the yearbook.

6. Along with what others are saying if we worked ahead just even a little more that would help us greatly, but along with working ahead if people maybe started to work on stories before the week of the show they are in it would help the story maker and the rest if the class. When a story is completed earlier anchors can watch and write their script instead of guessing what it is going to be about because it is not done yet. I know this might be kind of hard with our camera shortage but even just writing down what you are planning on paper could be a help.

hi it's paige

1. So far this quarter i have anchored with ryan price for the september 11th show and i also did a story on the new t-shirt rule at eastview, mostly in regards to color day. My strengths as a student in the class i feel is getting stuff done on time, and to the best of my ability.

2.Where i have seen the most improvement in my skill is in knowledge of the adobe premier program. i now know various skills and details that i didn't know before and can use them to make my stories better and more professional.

3. I could use more improvement in setting up good camera angels and in my interviews for stories. by the end of the quarter i would like to get practice in interviewing someone in more of a conversational format to practice getting good sound bites. Two goals that i would like to accomplish by the end of the quarter is first finish my community service aspect of my flash requirements and the other is to assist someone in their story.

4. One thing that i think could make the show better is a new set and possibly a themed show that is worked on by everyone. It would be nice to get away from the standard format of the flash.

5. I have not done my community service yet but i plan on being apart of the team that tapes the play.

6. Nope!

Hey, it's Kelsey Reger.

1. This quarter I've done a story on 'New Teachers' at EVHS, worked behind the scenes doing teleprompter, wrote the anchor script, struggling with globecaster, flipping the switch :) and getting footage for Lindsay's story as well as being in Wipf's credits.

2. This year I've noticed an improvement in my ability to work with technology. Even though I struggled with the globecaster, I wasn't terrible! While editing my story I found that I could better understand the software & try some new things. I also know how to work the teleprompter better this year, maybe it's the new software or maybe it's the improved me! :]

3. My goal for this quarter is to find a story and find the "nugget", like Bob Dotson says. :] I want to find a unique angle and make a compelling story.

4. I think the Flash could be improved if the anchors stepped out of their comfort zones. It's boring to hear staged lines and zero interaction or chemistry. I wanna see some vibrance and enthusiasm.

5. I plan to record the play on Saturday. I haven't yet done the video community service.

6. I think we're doing well! I wish we had a new open & we branched out from the more typical stories. Sometimes it feels like all the stories are recycled from last year. I wanna know what else is NEW, EXCITING and INTERESTING. :] I'm psyched for the rest of the year.

Hello all it's SKENT :)

1) This quarter I did a story on homecoming traditions, I have done cameras, VTR, some sweeeeeeet crawl graphics and today I just learned how to do crawl graphics! How exciting!

2) I don't think that I have improved on anything yet, but I am learning some new jobs and just need some practice on editing storys and what not.. So I can see much improvement in my future.

3)I think I need to improve on doing a better story and just doing more jobs in general.

4) I just think that we are all really busy in the fall because we all have sports and so I think our problem is, is we need more effort for stories and cresits and stuff but I do think that once our sports start to die down the effort will improve.

5) No but I'm hoping to help out on Saturday to tape the play!

6) You guys are just supppppa cool :)

hey its kelsey n

1. So far I've done a bunch of jobs like camera, floor director, teleprompting and im a pretty good flippi if i do say so myself. I've helped get interviews and information for other peoples stories

2. I've improved on learning how to do stuff editing that, not gonna lie, I had no idea you could even do on that program by having other people show me. And I've learned about interviewing people because it's better to sort of direct them the way you want instead of letting them go off or telling them exactly what to say

3.I think I still need improvement on actually doing stories by myself because I do not feel very comfortable doing that and getting interviews and footage by myself. One goal I have is to do a good story. My other goal is to go outside my comfort zone and get some good interviews with people I don't know. Oh and I want to learn to do more cool editing effects!

4. I think we need to actaully try ot do what we say we want to do because a lot of times people have really cool ideas but nobody ever wants to do them or put in the time (even though I know we are all soooo busy). We also should carry through with helping people because pretty much everyone says they will help someone get footage or help them in some other way with their story but not very many people do.

5. I have not done my community service yet but I am hoping to be in the crew that tapes the play on Saturday!!

6. Not really, keep it up everyone :) and thanks to everyone who teaches me how to do stuff!! haha

Hey it's Alaina:)
1. This year I did my story on the fall play, I've assisted in many stories by getting interviews for people, I volunteer to come with people with stories to places like the apple orchard etc. and I've helped people with their standup. I've directed, anchored, done audio, and other various jobs behind the scene. I create the graphics for the show every Thursday in my independent study 3rd hour with wipf:)

2. I have seen a lot of improvement in my confidence. Normally last year I would dread doing stories because they seemed really hard and I never knew how to edit. Now it comes a lot more naturally and I have fun with it- by twisting the story with my segues which drive the story and create its angle.

3. I still need improvement in my editing of course. I am not very tech-smart and I'm still trying to catch on to skills that make a story great rather than okay. I also want to step it up and learn the dang globecaster- even though it freaks the heck out of me. I also wanna figure out FINAL CUT! ugh I can't figure it out!

4. We're all super busy in the fall with a billion activities so we're not always jumping to do certain stories or do credits outside of school, etc. But the more you put in the more you get out. To make a really cool quality show we should come up with a theme for a show that everyone can help out with and be a part of:)

5. I plan on doing some video yearbook stories during my 3rd hour time- I just started the coronation one and will put together the fall play one (since I can't be apart of the crew!)

6. NEED NEW OPEN! WOOP! i love you guys:)

hey this is karlee!!!

1. this quarter i did a story on the Egans during homecoming week as well as stepped in to anchor with alex when kelsey was out sick, i also try to always do a job on show days. My strength is that i can do many different things and help out people.

2. I have improved on my knowledge of the editors as well as different jobs in the studio, and when i am doing a story i just ask someone for an interview and start with my questions but then go off on a tangent with other questions

3. One thing i would like to learn is how to use final cut, photoshop and many of the other tools we have in our studio, as well as how to be able to do a story and help out in the class along with my really busy life.

4. I think the Flash could be better if everyone spends every day working or improving on something, or helping with someone doing their story unless they are doing their own, and if you do have a story use class time to work on it.

5. At this time i cant think of any community service but i plan on doing something before the end of the year, the only semi-community service i've done is to help out ryan with his stand up. I also will being doing the first day pep-fest for the video yearbook.

6. I love this class and i just think we need to work really harder to go out of our way to get really cool stories!!!!

Anonymous said...

1. I have anchored with Kait, done a story on how to be a good fan, assisted Hannah, (stadium improvements) Paige, (T-Shirt policy) and Lindsay (Fall Activities) with stories. Also I have just started gathering clips for a potential open.

2. My skills at regular jobs during class have stayed about the same I think, however, my time management has improved greatly which helps me complete stories and get work done on time. Another thing I think I've gotten better at was getting B-Roll that my stories don't end up with a lot of un-dynamic shots.

3. I need to improve my editting because as of right now it's nothing more than the usual cut and dry clips back to back to back, so the first thing I would like to learn is some new effects for stories and also for the open. Also I need to make sure that I have an angle going into the story, but also a back-up plan in case something goes wrong, or the ability to run with a newly found topic/angle. So I would also like to get myself to plan ahead of time better.

4. The things we can improve on as a class aren't necessarily the things we make every week because the stories have been fantastic this year, but instead the things that stay the same week after week. Things like the open and set which people see every week to me have kind of become worn out. The set isn't even from our year really haha and I think our open was perfect for the last day of school last year because it was OUR first flash, but now the open should really incorporate the whole school and all of its achievements. Also, getting as many people not in the flash on the flash as possible, because people like seeing their friends on TV more then our same faces every week (as attractive as our faces may be..)

5. I have filmed some of the Cross Country meets for Coach Sharp in the races I have not competed in because of injury.

6. Some suggestions I have are just to make the flash more/extra fun because it's fun already bu it's our senior year TV show and class should be something fun to remember every week. Things that anna said like EVTV Apparel and treats would be a fantastic start because everyone loves treat and new tshirts/sweatpants or whatever. Also some sort of outside of the class fiesta/lock in/sleepover where we just hang out outside of class and maybe film a fun and energetic music video credits WOOPWOOP!

This was Tom.

i <3 Kait.

hello this is Mark!

1. I have anchored with Emma on the very first day of school. I am doing one of the stories for the election show coming up in a few weeks. I also was involved in the credits drive through wars with Ryan.

2. I have seen improvement in my work here in the flash. I feel much more confident being on camera and anchoring. I feel way more comfortable doing the jobs the are required to run the show. I also feel like stories aren't much of a problem for me anymore and I feel much more comfortable doing them as well.

3. I feel like the biggest thing I need to improve on is my time management skills. I seem to pawn everything off until the very last minute and this isn't a great habit to get into. One goal that I have for the end of the year is to master the final cut program on the MAC computers. I feel like this would be an asset to everyone if we had people who could master final cut.

4. I think the biggest thing that our flash needs to do this year is try to get a new open first off, and just try to step out of our comfort zone a little bit and I think that would lead to some very interesting shows and stories as well. I think we could also use a new set too..

5. I haven't done any community service yet but I am hoping to be apart of the crew filming the play on saturday night.

6. I like the idea of planning ahead for a few weeks in advance with our shows and I believe that is something we just need to keep doing to be a successful broadcasting station. But basically our flash is the bomb like tick. tick.!!

Hey, Emma here.

1. I feel that I have done a significant amount of work for the Flash this quarter. I anchored the first episode with Mark Gauger, I did a story on the Girls' Swim Team, I assisted Anna Moorse with the "Volleyball Creeper" credits, and was in charge of Vincent's credits. I also volunteered to be one of the Executive Producers for the Video Yearbook. I also must say that I have become a master of flipping the switch :)

2. I feel that as I keep doing more stories and completing more tasks for the Flash, I am just growing in my confidence overall. I am naturally a pretty shy person, but asking for and interviewing people has become much easier, and I feel much more comfortable going up to random people. I also feel that with every story I am more comfortable with Premiere and I feel like it keeps getting easier and easier to edit more quickly and do a better job with editing.

3. There are a number of areas in which I would like to improve. After doing such stories like the Best Buddies Prom last year, I really want to work to find those really good angles and really meaningful sound bytes. I would also like to improve my technological skills, like being able to add some more interesting effects and transitions and whatnot to my stories and other projects. I would also like to be more comfortable with Final Cut and Photoshop.

4. I agree with Ryan in that I think we should work more as a class to step a little outside of the box and try new things with the show format. I also think we should add some themed shows (like the sports show we were discussing) because I think it would make it more interesting for our audience. I think we should also just be a little brave and try some new things, and maybe we could also make a new set.

5. I have not done a community service project as of right now, but I am planning on turning my Girls' Swim Team story into a Video Yearbook story, and I may even do that with the Girls' Soccer story that I plan to do for the next show. I also am planning on helping to film the play on Saturday.

6. First of all, I have to say that I love this class and everyone in it. This is the best class I think anyone could be involved in at Eastview, and I love our Flash family :) I do think we need to produce some more quality credits and really step outside of the box when it comes to stories and story ideas. And also since now we have more time to work on stories, we should really utilize that and make three, really good stories every week. But I am going to work on a Flash/EVTV apparel design (maybe with Anna) and I am also trying to get a new open in production. And I think I am going to use the "That 70's Show" idea if that sounds good with everyone else :) And yes, treats are a very good idea!

Hannah here =)

1. This quarter I have done a story on the stadium improvements/victory circle and I have also aided others with various stories. I am a good leader and organizer for projects/stories/shows for the group.

2. I have improved with editing (learning new techniques), knowledge of different items on/with the camera, and improvement in equipment and jobs in the studio. (i ran globecaster for the first time ever on thursday =))

3. I could still learn more about both editing and camera work. I would like to learn even more cool tricks that can be done editing stories and segments for the video yearbook and I would like to anchor on a show before the end of the quarter.

4. Putting more thought and time into credits, stepping up in general to help out with stories, and getting better at planning shows ahead of time will all improve our show.

5. No, I have yet to do my community service but I am scheduled to be on the team taping the fall play.

6. So far, this year is going great and I love the class. We have awesome chemistry and it's fun coming to a class that I feel really comfortable in and like everyone is my friend. We're a big happy family =)

Hey there, Sertic Here

1. *Danced in the Simba costume for the credits.
* Made the Renaissance Story
* B-Roll for girls soccer
* Attended broadcast training credits
* Went to the apple orchard for Lindsay's story and was interviewed by her.
* Anchoring with Karlee and me having to take off shirts.
My strengths would be that I have a can do attitude and have creative capabilities.

2. I have improved much on my editing skills and have a better feel for creating stories.

3. I would like improvement with editing earlier and not having to procrastinate so much. I would like to learn how to globecast by the end of the quarter and my two goals would be to direct the credits and for my credits to be very funny and enjoyable for all to see:)

4. I feel that the 08-09 Flash should this year keep everything fresh. Meaning that we can create things that no one else has, so that our year can stand out from all the other years'.

5. My community service is completed. I took time off to record B-Roll for Emma and the Video yearbook. I also attended Lindsay's fall activity trip to the apple orchard.

6. Other comments

I think we should bring in more treats. Yeah!

Hey its kait.

1. So far this quarter I anchored once with Tom and I did a story on Freshmen orientation. I am currently working on a story on the Fall Dance Show. I think a strength of mine is directing.

2. Greg was in the studio at the same time as me one night and he showed me some editing tricks on premiere which helped me improve on my editing skills.

3. I could us improvement in remembering how to do things. I think the time in between doing things causes me to forget things. For instance every time I do the globe caster I have to re-learn because I don't do it often enough. The same goes for making graphics. If I did these things more often I would be able to get better at them each time rather than re-learn them each time.

4. I think that we're doing a really good job with creativity and unique scripts and getting our work done. I think that procrastination is one area that hurts us. Our good stories could be great if we weren't rushing to finish them so then we'd have more time to make them really cool. I also think that people need to a bigger variety of jobs and stories instead of the same people doing the same stuff each week.

5. No I haven't but I am planning to do tape the boys' soccer game on saturday for the video yearbook.

6. I think we should try to fill up weekly stories more in advance like Krebs has suggested!

hey yall its sam rock

1. ~Girls Tennis story
~jobs- camera and floor director

2. I have seen much improvement in my skills since I started. The most notable of the skills is the story that i did on girls tennis. I didn't really know what i was doing because i have never made a story before so with a little help my story was improved greatly. I have also learned also about how to white balance a camera outside since i had difficultly with that.

3.I think i still need improvement on my editing of stories and learning how to write them. I would like to learn/practice on writing stories better. i thought my first story was ok but i would like to practice and improve more on my story writing abilities. One goal i would set would be to be an anchor with my other goal of being a director for a show.

4. I think that we could make the show better by creating a new opening or making a new set with pictures of current people in the background.

5. I haven't yet but i plan on doing the video year book segment for the girls tennis team.

6. New open and new set. Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen.

Hey guys, it's Megan.

1. I did a story on Sept. 11th for the second episode. I think my strengths are that I am really time efficient. I like to get everything done early and be organized rather that wait until the last minute.

2. I have seen an improvement in what I can do with the software. Coming on new this year, it had been an entire year from the most recent story I did (for intro to broadcast). So, I improved on what I know to make a story well done.

3. I still think, however, that I could learn a lot more. There is still so much on the computer and on the actual show that I would like to learn, such as how to use photoshop. It would be really cool to use that program.
My Goals are:
-I want to anchor and improve in that
-I want to direct and see how well that goes for me

4. Improvements for the Flash could be having more themed shows. They are so interesting to do, and only take a little more planning to do. We can do more of those shows.

5. My community service was (will be) doing the filming for the fall play.

6. Keep up the good work, and make sure the credits are always funny.

Peter Ingles said...

1. I was the globecaster for our very first show, and since then have taught all other globecasters how to do the job. I did the Bailey homecoming credits, and I will be filming the John McCain rally on Friday for Mark's story. Also anchored with Alaina just this week.

2. I think that that overall I have become better and shooting video, and getting good B-Roll that adds to the stroy, as well as getting solid wort hwhile interviews. As well I learned how to work the globecaster and feel confident in teaching others how to do it as well.

3. I would like to have a very strong story, that doens't just talk about something but actually finds a new and inteesting perspective.

4. I think that our stories need to be less about Eastview, and more news worthy therefore allwoing us to move out of our comfort zone some and become better jouranalists.

5. As of now I have not done any community service, but I plan and editing, or filming something for the video yearbook.

6. I think, although easier said then done, if we try and think a little outside the box we can find a way to make our show more than just a high school TV schow, and hopefully achieve something we can be really proud. Also Treats every once and a while sounds awesome.
